My First Flip – Before & After

The photos below show before and after photos of my first flip. I was really happy with the final result and obviously the profit margin was great as well!

Starting with the front, you will see that we rewrapped the exterior with new vinyl. To maintain some original charm we restored original front door which has beautiful stained glass panes. We also uncovered original cedar half round siding which were restored as well. Both were painted red as an accent and pop quite nicely. All of this really helped add some much needed curb appeal.

Stepping inside you'll notice that we removed all of the old dingy carpet and replaced it wood laminate flooring. We also added tile in the bathroom and laundry. Both of these additions really elevate the feel of the home.

Some details that you don't really notice in the photos is that we went to antique salvage shops in the city to find original floor registers for all vents excluding the bathroom. We also restored the original baseboard and had to spend some time tracking this down at antique salvage stores as well. Therefore, our end result is modern and feels new while maintaining some of the classic charm and detail that you don't find in new construction.

Both the bathroom and kitchen were complete overhauls. The layout was revised in the bathroom to make better use of the space. As a result the room feels much larger now. Obviously both rooms have been updated significantly. Trust me, this is where you spend the money, but it's also a major driver in the selling price. Stainless appliances, granite countertops and tile black splash were all well worth it!

Finally, the backyard was transformed from dingy, dirty and unkept to an extension of the home that is now an inviting entertainment space.
